Investigation of E-Vtol Performance Parameters on the Characteristics of Civil Air-Taxi Network
, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology ; Malaek, Mohammad Bagher (Supervisor)
Abstract
Nowadays more than half of the world’s population lived in urban areas. That proportion is set to rise to 67% by 2050. This will cause urban mobility with serious problems. The concept of Urban Air Mobility (UAM) is proposed to avoid the problem to become a catastrophy. Due to environmental issues and also high operating costs, using copters as an air-taxi was not justifiable. As the technology in e-VTOL flourished, the desire of using of these vehicles in such a transportation system was increased. In this paper, besides previous investigations, the e-VTOL’s performance parameters’ influence on the characteristic of a civil air-taxi network is under investigation. In addition, this paper...
A Comprehensive Investigation of an Intelligent On-Demand Urban Air Mobility Network Design Principles-A Case Study of Los Angles
, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology ; Malaek, Mohammad Bagher (Supervisor)
Abstract
In this study, the steps for designing an intelligent network for the Urban Air Mobility transportation system is proposed, and these steps are implemented for the city of Los Angeles as a case study, which is one of the busiest and most populous cities in the world.. Initially, the demand and its distribution in the study area is estimated; Then, according to the distribution of demand and existing infrastructure, the optimal location of stations are determined; afterwards, considering a well-designed electric vertical take-off and landing aircraft called Spricho the network is simulated, its performance and quality are examined and the optimal combination of the number of planes and the...
