Experimental Study on Ship Added Resistance in Wave

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology Hajizadeh, Sajjad (Author) ; Seif, Mohammad Saeed (Supervisor) ; Mehdigholi, Hamid (Supervisor)
    Abstract
In the ship designing, it is preferable to access to a good performance in waves and low efficiency loss. Accordingly, modeling and estimation of added resistance would be an important issue. Added resistance in wave is an important part of ship's performance due to many technical and economic effects on the ship's performance. With understanding and awareness of the added resistance that comes from ship accident to the waves, we can reduce this parameter by changing in specifications and hull form of ships. Designers are also interested in optimizing the ship from this aspect. In previous works, added resistance in waves was obtained from experimental, numerical and analytical methods. In...

Experimental Study on Ship Motions in Regular Waves

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology Najafi, Amin (Author) ; Seif, Mohammad Saeed (Supervisor) ; Mehdigholi, Hamid (Supervisor)
    Abstract
Regarding the increasing application of fast boats in the world, studying the dynamic performances of these boats is consequently effective and vital. So one can evaluate the hull performance in different sea forces. Vast activities take place in all over the world yearly. General performances hull tests occur in marine laboratories such as Wave maker and carriage. Model hull test is one of effective branches of the naval architecture engineering. This method is also based on dimensional analysis. In this thesis, after understanding the waves and the methodology some experimental tests are done in the conditions of frontal static waves, and heave, pitch and roll activities of the craft are...

Development a Model for Hydrodynamic Analysis of a Floating Hotel

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology Javanmardi, Hossein (Author) ; Abbaspour Tehrani Fard, Majid (Supervisor) ; Mehdigholi, Hamid (Co-Advisor)
    Abstract
Marine hotels are a new idea in marine industries all over the world. Also, it's not done any targeted and academic research on them in the country even in other countries up to now. For this reason in this project a conceptual design sequence is presented for marine hotels particularly floating hotels. At first, it's presented a complete introduction for modern marine structures such as floating hotels, under water tunnels, marine aquarium and restaurants. Also there is introduction to their working system, environmental conditions, their effeteness on environment and feasibility of their construction. In the following a simple cylindrical model of a floating hotel and its systems are...

Modeling and Designing Dynamic Positioning System for an Underwater Vehicle

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology Hatami Landi, Mohammad (Author) ; Seif, Mohammad Saeed (Supervisor)
    Abstract
The aim of this study is to design a control system for an autonomous underwater vehicle and evaluate this system for different missions. Due to the non-linear behavior of the target robot, both linear and non-linear behavior of the system was studied. Model Predictive control method has been implemented since it can outline both linear and non-linear controllers. The first non-linear dynamics of this robot, maneuvering equipment, and external disturbances (waves and ocean current) were modeled. Then, to design the linear controller, the equations of motion have been linearized around the working point(cruise speed). In order to analyze both designed controllers, various duties have been...
