Flexural-Torsional Buckling Analysis of Thin- walled Composite Beams with Symmetric Layup
, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology ; Haddadpour , Hassan (Supervisor)
Abstract
In the present work, the buckling behavior of a composite beam with circular, rectangular and pentagonal cross sections is investigated. The structural model is based on the first order shear deformation theory (FSDT) and incorporates other non-classical effects such as primary and secondary warpings and restrained warping. The linear buckling equations are derived from the non-linear governing equations of motion and their associated boundary conditions and solved using the Galerkin method for a composite beam with the clamped-free end condition and the special layup configuration of Circumferentially Asymmetric Stiffness (CAS) which induces elastic couplings between torsional and flexural...
A Rate Control Mechanism for Wireless Multimedia Sensor Networks
, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology ; Khansari, Mohammad (Supervisor) ; Akbari, Behzad (Co-Advisor)
Abstract
To make Wireless Multimedia Sensor Networks (WMSNs) more practical, researchers have tried to meet its challenges in the last decade. Some factors of WMSNs, such as low bandwidth and channel errors, cause a decrease in the video quality that is declared as distortion. On the other hand, one important requirement in the context of multimedia streaming is its quality. In this thesis, we first introduce and use an adaptive cross-layer error control in the link layer, and then we implement a new cross-layer source rate control Mechanism for efficient and reliable real-time multimedia streaming in wireless sensor networks. Our main objective is to minimize distortion. Some of the used cross-layer...
Experimental Investigation of the Effect of Boundary Layer Suction on the Performance of a Supersonic Air Intake
, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology ; Soltani, Mohammad Reza (Supervisor)
Abstract
An extensive wind tunnel tests were conducted on an axisymmetric supersonic inlet at free stream Mach numbers from 1.8 to 2.2, and at different values of mass flow rates. For each test, pressure distributions over the inlet spike was measured and the flow was visualized by means of the shadowgraph system and a high speed camera to obtain main performance characteristics of the inlet during its stable and unstable operations. As the Mach number is increased the pressure recovery is reduced, but maximum value of the mass flow rate is increased. The results of the stable operation of the inlet showed that, variations of the mass flow affects the surface pressure over the entire surface of the...
Reducing part Warpage by Optimizing Process Parameters in Selective Laser Sintering
, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology ; Movahhedy, Mohammad Reza (Supervisor) ; Akbari, Javad (Supervisor)
Abstract
One of the newest methods of rapid prototyping is SLS . In this day, SLS is more common in compare others methods, because it uses little time and man does not nearly interfere in the producing stages of part which is made by SLS method. Also, sophisticated parts, which cannot be built by other methods, can be produced by SLS method. One of the disadvantages of SLS method is low dimensions accuracy of parts produced in this way. This problem has two major reasons: Shrinkage and Warpage. These two phenomena are created because of ununiformed temperature distribution. Others features which have effect on dimensions accuracy are residual stress, porosity and removing space of between powder...
