  7. Abstract:
  8. Web service plays an important role in software development. Since Web service can be used in small scale and large scale environments, many different entities may participate in each interaction. Regarding situation, a lot of information is available around these entities. This kind of information is called context. In some cases, context information is used to provide outputs which are called context-aware systems.
The main challenging issue in producing a context-aware system is context modeling and sharing. Semantic Web and its ontology languages are the most promising solution to context modeling. In pervasive computing many ontologies are proposed for this purpose, but little research has been done in Semantic Web services. Therefore context-awareness in Web services suffers from a comprehensive context ontology which can be used or extended to needed applications. In this thesis, we have proposed an upper ontology for context modeling in Web service’s environment. This upper ontology can be a basis for the production of context-aware entities like context-aware Web services and context-aware composers.
Besides a context model for Web services, providing context-aware entities in Web services domain is another issue which we are going to cover. An architecture which lets the context-aware entities have the required context information is the first step. In this research we propose an architecture which is able to provide that functionality using Web services’ facilities.
In addition, we have done some research on the context-awareness issue and Web service composition. At last a context-aware composer for Semantic Web services is proposed. Besides, a solution to the composition of context-aware Semantic Web service is proposed. It is needed to be mentioned that context-aware composition of Web services is a different from the composition of context-aware Web services making the latter one a novel field of research
