  7. Abstract:
  8. In single service wireless cellular networks, two types of call are defined; new call and handoff call. New call blocking probability and handoff call dropping probability are two major parameters of QoS. Some call admission control schemes are proposed for handling new and handoff calls in the cell for keeping these QoS parameters under suitable values. In this work, we will introduce some call admission control schemes and will show performance analysis, advantages and disadvantages of them (under different channel holding times and same channel holding times for new calls and handoff calls). Then we will focus on two schemes and based on their ideas, we will propose a new call admission control scheme which is named New Thinning (NT) scheme. The basic goal of new thinning scheme is defining a different condition to achieving either lower handoff call dropping or lower new call blocking probability than other schemes. The idea to approach this goal is defining suitable condition for new call acceptance, therefore we will define a threshold for number of accepted new calls in the cell and a separate probability for new call acceptance after mentioned threshold(for first extra new call after threshold). In this scheme, we will use different channel holding times for new call and handoff call, so a two-dimensional Markov chain will be defined. Then we discuss about its performance analysis, so new call blocking probability and handoff call dropping probability will be derived. Also we will represent some numerical results based on different new call and handoff call arrival rates, different threshold for new calls and different cell capacity. A comparison between new thinning scheme and two other schemes will be represent for determining better performance of our proposed scheme
