- Abstract:
- Achieving the required Quality of service (QoS) is a challenging task in the emerging next generation networked multimedia applications. Providing QoS guarantees becomes even more challenging when you add the complexities of wireless and mobile networks. An important aspect of wireless networks is their dynamic behavior. Especially when we need to transmit multimedia data over wireless networks, this problem becomes more significant. Live video with large end to end delay is meaningless and very low quality video is not satisfying. In recent years, a number of Protocols for providing guarantee of service are presented in the literature. These techniques include data link layer QoS schemes, network layer schemes, integrated (multiple layer) approaches, QoS routing, dynamic class adaptation, and techniques for reservation and admission control. In the other hand, mobility is one of the most important parameters in analysis and design of Wireless Mobile Ad-Hoc Networks. This parameter has significant effects on Performance, Reliability and Quality of Service in Mobile Ad-Hoc Networks, especially in multimedia streaming applications. In this project we try to analyze the effect of node mobility on network quality of service parameters like throughput, packet loss and delay in multimedia streaming applications in mobile Ad-Hoc networks and propose a new algorithm to improve these parameters in presence of high node mobility for different mobility models. We introduce a Mobility-Aware QoS Ad Hoc Routing Protocol (MAQAR) with mobility predication. In this scheme, we use location information to determine the life time of links between nodes. This parameter helps us to select reliable routing paths. Idea of Multipath routing is used in this scheme to select more than one path between source and destination and guarantees more reliable and QoS support routing. Simulation results are compared with other state of the art algorithms and results prove performance improvement.
