- Abstract:
- Diabete is disability in the body to produce insulin or use it. Body insulin hormone needed to convert starch, sugar and other foods to energy and thus the body is functioning properly. Considering this incurable disease and its complications, many doctors and researchers trying to control the disease, reduce complications and to create favorable conditions and appropriate solutions for preventing its expanding and also strengthening patients mentally. Be destroyed in digestive system, insulin can not through tablets or similar cases received. The best way known to enter insulin to the body, is injection. This project is about a device to reduce the level of blood glucose in patients with diabetes require insulin injection. In this system, using the injection pen, has been replaced Syringe. For designing this system, Pahl and Beitz design method is adopted. At first the need from articles, patients and health centers is reported, and then analyzed the available patents to find out the optimum design that can be produced within the appropriate cost. Follow the step by step Pahl and Beitz design method, preparing list of demands, appropriate work structures for each combination of functions and possible answers for each section of system was considered in. Combining these answers for each structure, a total of 232 solutions, have been reached. Put substantial questions forward that all solutions should be accountable, 46 solutions remained. To choose the main solution, by ‘wishes’ weight rating, 6 solutions received the highest value among them and the final solution to enter the detail design was selected. Selecting a final solution, a preliminary sketch is created and after approval, detailed design started. Detailed design includes preliminary layout, modifications, parts design, analysis and assembly of the parts. In detailed design, software CATIA, product of Dassault Systemes company, one of the most complete softwares of mechanical design, is used. The present system based on standard insulin pen needles, that is produces by the manufacturer of needles. Thus due to compatibility of the system with existing needle, the needle need not be produced. Another problem is the reservoir of insulin. Use foreign reservoir, that is known as cartridge of insulin, despite being available, will result in an expensive product. Thus, the insulin syringe used as a cartridge and if the system has reached mass production, appropriate insulin cartridge can be designed and produced. After design and optimizing it, a prototype is made, with some common industrial machines, to prove its well functioning. Considering the mass production, all parts of prototype is designed to be replaced with polymers. As tested and the result was satisfactory, the new insulin pen satisfied all the demands that the defined system must necessarily satisfy. Also about the ‘wishes’, those are defined to improve the product quality and be competitive with similar products, most of them have been fulfilled. Such can be easily injected, high safety, low pain, to name range. This system, compared to existing systems, have benefits that can be referred to a number of them; simplicity of operation and comfortable setting, hidden needles, that reduce the pain and has positive psychological effects, adjustable screw and reading the adjusted amount of injection, not seeing the injection system, no need to inject by hand force and manufacturing facilities in the country, which results in decreased cost and can be used by patients.
