  7. Abstract:
  8. The main power source of many space systems, are solar panels which are mainly affected from irradiance, temperature and particles radiation and an electronic solar panel simulator is a power-supply system that simulates the output of the solar panel. This system by processing of input data such as environment conditions, panel specifications and etc, simulate panel behavior and it can set the IV curve of the panel in different conditions. In this thesis, after introducing electronic solar panel simulators (chapter one), photovoltaic cells (chapter two) and space environment and its effects on space systems (chapter three), modeling solar panel based on the equivalent circuit of a solar cell (chapter four) make it possible to predict the behavior of the panels in different conditions. In chapter five the manner of a terrestrial solar panel and a space solar panel is simulated and results are compared to experimental results and then the model operation is evaluated in a LEO orbit with some eclipse times. In the last chapter the hardware of the solar panel simulator is introduced which is based on a programmable DC power supply.
