- Abstract:
- This thesis seeks to identify the critical barriers to strategy implementation in an Iranian firm, and also concentrates on the readiness for strategy implementation phase. Previous studies show that many of strategic plans fail in implementation phase. Therefore, implementation and readiness for implementation phases are both important phases. The very few studies in this topic in Iranian industrial context illustrate the same issue in local context; however, these barriers may vary from one context to another. Different approaches and frameworks in the literature have been reviewed in order to build a theoretical frame work to seek the barriers to implementing a strategic plan in an Iranian firm. A conceptual framework was developed using the conventional models. The applied research method for this exploratory research is case study, and the main method to gather information is semi-structured interviews which were held in the targeted company with all informants of a specific strategy in its implementation phase. The acquired information was analyzed with theme analysis method. The results of this theory driven theme analysis study supported most of the barriers which were identified in previous researches. Moreover, some contextual barriers were found. The outcomes of the research can help both academics and practitioners foresee the barriers before implementing a plan and to take proper measures to avoid them.
