  7. Abstract:
  8. In recent years, due to greater attention scientific communities to environment and environmental friendly material, use of natural fibers as reinforcing the polymers has increased significantly. High specific strength, low density, cheap, stiffness and recycled by nature, are including promotional items using natural fibers as reinforcing in the polymer composites. In This study has tried in the first place an appropriate method for producing polypropylene composites reinforced with short jute fibers should be presented and then the physical and mechanical properties of composites will be investigated. Used MAPP and Silane for compatibility took improved between natural jute fibers as a hydrophilic material and polypropylene as a hydrophobic material. Thermal stability of natural jute fibers was evaluated by using TGA. Also composite crystallization was investigated by using DSC thermal analysis. Composite mechanical behavior by tensile and impact tests were examined. For investigation of deformation mechanism in crack tip and micromechanism of fracture, TOM was used. The fracture surfaces were analyzed by SEM. The results show adding short jute fibers to the polypropylene increased crystallization rate and crystallization temperature. Results of tension tests showed increasing in the composites elastic modulus by addition of jute fibers. In case of using compatibilizer, yield strength of composites increase when jute fiber added to polypropylene. Also improvement of impact strength with the addition of compatibilizer to the composite was observed. Fracture micromechanism of polypropylene and composites was crazing which initiated from the interface between fiber and polypropylene in the composites without the compatibilizer. In SEM images of fracture surface of composites without compatibilizer fiber pull out was clearly observed. Also in SEM images of fracture surface of composites with compatibilizer suitable cohesion between jute fibers with matrix was observed
