  7. Abstract:
  8. Domino accidents are those which are initiated from one equipment and extend to neighbor equipments or units and as a result the consequence of the primary accident is increased. Risk management is one of the tools for reducing risk of accidents and Quantitative Risk Analysis is a crucial stage in risk management. Despite the importance and severity of domino accidents, in most of QRA studies the effect of these accidents on risk is not considered. In the present work tools for Quantitative Risk Analysis with considering domino accidents has been developed. Two major methods for this reason are used; analytical method and simulation. First, software based on analytical method was developed which determines probable domino scenarios in a layout. This was done due to complexity of quantitative risk analysis of domino accidents. Second, a new algorithm (FREEDOM 2) based on simulation was developed. This algorithm is the modified version of an older algorithm (FREEDOM) which was presented earlier based on Mont Carlo Simulation. A new function called “Multiple Scenario” was added to FREEDOM which extends its scope of work. Third, the results of the two methods were compared from a mathematical point of view. Finally, multiple case studies were done with the aims of analyzing performance of the methods, usability of the developed software and comparison between two methods
