  7. Abstract:
  8. Entrance of secular science to Muslim societies has made them face a duality. That is because, on the one hand, they like to preserve their religious values; and on the other, prevalence of secular ideas prevents people from being committed to such values. Therefore, some Islamic scholars proposed religious science as opposed to Western secular science as a remedy to this crisis In case of religious science, explanatory model has the highest position, but disagreement over how to combine experimental and religious characteristics has led to different models in this area. One of the explanatory models of religious knowledge is that of Doctor Mehdi Golshani which has received due attention at the international level. Golshani’s perspectives is based on the foundation that science is not neutral and impartial, and scientists at all stages of scientific activity, especially when processing universal theories and interpreting scientific theories, apply their subjective assumptions. Therefore, scientists’ worldview affects their scientific works. Based on Golshani’s views of nature, if we study human and society within a religious worldview it is called religious knowledge. On the contrary, if they are studied without regard to the worldview, it is called secular science. Golshani believes that religious knowledge can be applied at two levels: theoretical and practical. At the theoretical level, a person faces two categories of theories. The first category, fundamental theories, includes issues such as origin of the universe, life or knowledge. The second category includes intermediate theories and mainly deals with scientific works. As far as the intermediate theories are concerned, science is universal and scientists’ assumptions have the least effects thereon. However, in case of fundamental theories, because scientific data is far from sufficient for creating theories, scientists resort to para-scientific considerations. The practical level deals with functional orientation of science. There is no doubt that the science which is used according to a divine worldview will satisfy the human’s material and spiritual needs. However, one cannot be certain that the science based on secular worldviews will not be destructive. This paper reviews and explains Golshani’s points of view about religious science and evaluates opinions suggested about those views
