- Porous polymeric particles have the extensive application in various sciences and various methods have been introduced for production of these particles. Depending on method of production, porous polymeric beads can be produced in diverse shapes, pore size, pores interconectivity, surface morphology and chemical properties. In common methods for production of porous polymeric particles, tuning the size and porosity is difficult or even impossible. Porous polymeric beads with the vast surface area and good functionality have been applied for adsorption of various materials. The purpose of this study is therefore to investigate a new procedure for the production of porous polymeric microspheres with controlled pore and particle size and evaluation of their capability as adsorbent for the removal of Cr (VI). Scanning electron microscopy, Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy and thermogravimetry analysis was applied for characterize of particles. Adsorption of Cr (VI) using modified polyacrylamide particles was conducted in batch and dynamic modes and effect of various parameters, including solution pH, adsorbent dose, initial concentration of chromium , agitation time and also kinetic and isotherm models was studied.The results showed the high capacity for Cr (VI) adsorption using modified polyacrylamide microspheres. Moreover, the capability of modified silica-polyacrylamide microspheres, that is the intermediate product in the production of porous polyacrylamide microspheres, in continuous adsorption of Cr (VI) and batch adsorption of Reactive black 5 was investigated and effect of various parameters on adsorption was determined.The results of adsorption showed the good capability of modified silica-polyacrylamide microspheres in removal of Cr (VI) and Reactive black 5 from aqueous solution
