  7. Abstract:
  8. In recent decades, most of the codes have placed a high value on Performance Based Design of structures; however, these methods are computationally complex and time-consuming, and caused researchers to seek new and efficient methods to investigate performance of structures under different intensities of seismic loading. The Usage of Endurance Time method (ET) and thus reducing the size of analysis can be a useful tool for excuting Performance Based Design of structures. Endurance Time analysis is based on time history analysis, but in this method structure subjected to an intensifying acceleration function and different damage indices of the structure are evaluated through analysis time. The different duration of ET accelerations, represents various intensities of earthquakes in different hazard levels. So with just one analysis of structure under ET acceleration, one can assess the structure in different performance levels. For more precise achievement, one can use 3 ET accelerations and consider the average of responses as the response of structure. In this research, using Endurance Time analysis, we are trying to provide better insights into the dynamic behavior of structures in continuous performance levels and use it to seismic performance evaluation of Steel Frames equipped with Tuned Mass Dampers in different hazard levels. For this purpose, various inelastic moment resisting steel framesequipped with Tuned Mass Dampers investiged in different hazard levels. the performance of the structures under seismic excitation in different performance levels is evaluated based on interstory drift ratios and story shear forces before and after rehabilitation. To ensure accuracy of ET method, its results compared to the results of nonlinear time history analysis of 2 series of ground motions. It was seen that Endurance Time accelerogram leads to an almost proper prediction of structure behavior at various earthquake records. As an achievementEndurance Time Method significantly decreases amount of computation in each seismic evaluation analysis. In this research, ASCE-41 is used as the performance base design criterion.
