  7. Abstract:
  8. Determining nonlinear dynamic behavior of structures is always one of the main goals of structure and earthquake engineers. The Modal Incremental Dynamic Analysis (MIDA) is one of the newest methods for analyzing the seismic behavior of structures. Indeed, this method has superseded the exact IDA method which is too complicated and prolix. Although, this method represents approximate results, high accuracy, fastness and low cost procedure made it an efficient and useful technique. Many researchers have used this method and investigated the accuracy of that and achieved proper results. Up to now no one has applied this method on structures which are equipped with dampers. In the procedure of MIDA method, the structure is analyzed by use of nonlinear static analysis, so it may be thought that the effect of additional damping is ignored in this method. In this study an idea has presented resulting in developing the MIDA method for structure equipped with additional damping. As an example, a structure which equipped with SCVDs analyzed by use of this method, and the accuracy MIDA surveyed. In current essay, two methods presented for applying MIDA on damped structures. The first method is simpler and more practical while the second one is more precise and proper for research aims. The outcomes show high accuracy of proposed methods for applying the MIDA on damped structures
