  7. Abstract:
  8. Airplane Landing Scheduling and Gate Assignment are two highly related problems in the literature. Although there is high relationship between these two problems, they have been studied independently from each other in the literature so far. This relation is due to that the input data of gate assignment problem is the output of airplane landing scheduling problem. In this study, an integrated linear programming model is proposed in order to improve the number of planes which are assigned to a jet-way by changing scheduling of their landing. Since this problem is NP-Hard, a meta-heuristic algorithm is based on tabu search (TS) is developed to solve this problem approximately. The proposed TS uses three different kinds of tabu lists. The first one prevents assigning a plane to a specified sequencing slot. The second tabu list makes sure that two selected planes do not change their slots with each other. The last one prevents that any two specified planes in their current slots do not change their position with each other in the landing sequence. By performing the analysis of variance on 45 sample problems, no significant difference has been observed among three suggested lists. Relative Percentage Deviation analysis revealed that second list performs better than the others.
