  7. Abstract:
  8. Today competitive business environment has emerged manufacturers and suppliers to take into account specific requirements of customers and end users. Therefore, customers have more important roles in present contexts than what they already had. This significant change led into drastic alteration in the decision-making approaches involved in raw material supply, manufacturing processes, and final product delivery. One of the most influencing decisions in this regard is decoupling point determination in a supply chain. The key role of this point is due to the fact that this pint location affects almost all decisions being made in different stages of the chain. This thesis addresses factors affecting location in a supply chain. In this regard, the literature body of the factors are reviewed and analyzed and a mathematical model is developed so as to determine decoupling point location optimally in a supply chain. In order to cope with the complexity of the developed model, a hybrid ant-colony optimization and genetic algorithm is proposed. Finally, results of the developed mathematical model is assessed by means of randomly generated test problems and sensitivity analyses are conducted upon factors risk of obsolescence and WIP inventory holding cost
