- Resource investment problem is one of problems in project scheduling which concerns with gaining minimum cost for accomplishing a project in a given time. Tardiness permitted with penalty cost makes this problem close to real world. This dissertation studied constraint of resources by restricted resources and tried to gain optimal level of restricted resource and middle resources start and finish time. This problem also permits tardiness with penalty cost. In construction projects, beside renewable and Non-renewable resources, there are workshops in which part of the work to carry out an activity, is done. These workshops include welding workshops and forming workshops in piping projects, painting workshops in construction skeleton and the like. This kind of project resource has established fix cost, depending on workshop capacity, and has operation cost, depending on capacity and duration. These described workshops need area to establish which generally include one or more salons. Calculation of this salons dimension (needed area) is this dissertation concerned problem. Its title in this problem is optimal level of restriction resource. Calculations of middle resources (regular resource) start and finish time and activities start and finish time are results. After exact modeling for this problem and solving it, one algorithm based on genetic algorithm will be proposed to obtain appropriate result in feasible area. For generation of bench mark problem firstly the data were extracted from PSPLib benchmarks and then the parameters that this problem needs but doesn't exist in PSPLib benchmarks problem were produced. After producing problems, their productivity was tested by comparing this genetic algorithm result with exact result. Experiments show productivity of this algorithm in different level of problems in PSPlib. At the end of this dissertation, the best algorithm parameter in minimum average and minimum of maximum differences between algorithm result and exact result was proposed
