- Abstract:
- The expansion of new analytical methods along with evolving computational tools has accelerated the recognition of obscured nonlinear behavior of structures. In this process, the innovative Endurance Time method is a great step which presents a comprehensive assessment of structural behavior with less computational cost. The accuracy of this method among the unpredictable nature of earthquake engineering, as well as its fastness and simplicity, has attracted the attention of researchers. This research is part of a project on introducing and assessing the capacities and restrictions of the Endurance Time method, which investigates its usage in analyzing performance of concrete structures with dual system. In Following research, structures of 5, 14, and 20 stories, with similar plane and dual lateral load bearing system of frame and shear core system with openings and coupling beams in one direction, have been designed to satisfy special dual concrete structures design requirement. Performance of these structures have been investigated with three dimensional linear and nonlinear modeling subject to earthquakes with return periods of 475 and 2475 years, by seven pair of natural records introduced by FEMA p695. This test then has been repeated with three pairs of Endurance Time method functions of the ETA20in series, and the results of these two methods have been compared with each other. Results show that ET verifies with Nonlinear Time History in overall structural PERFORMance. Moreover, lateral load bearing share of the frames relative to each story's total lateral load has been studied and evaluated in various seismic levels, using the capacities of the Endurance Time method. Results reveals that in the first and last stories, two systems interacions results in high shear on frames
