  7. Abstract:
  8. In this project, combination of PC-SAFT equation of state and friction theory was used for predicting the viscosity of reservoir fluid. Parameters of PC-SAFT and f-theory are available for pure components, but they are not known for oil cuts that are complex hydrocarbon mixtures. To solve this problem, in the first step, existing optimized parameters for PC-SAFT EOS of hydrocarbon mixtures were used and then, parameters of f-theory for mixtures were optimized. To set the parameters, two approaches were studied. The first approach is to obtain a series of empirical correlations that can estimate the parameters of f-theory (in conjunction with PC-SAFT) for oil cuts in terms of their molecular weight and boiling point. In the second approach, an optimization method (fminsearch function of MATLAB) was used for optimizing the f-theory parameters for oil fractions. Then, validity and accuracy of proposed method were examined by using experimental data (which represent the viscosity at different conditions). These data were available for 20 oil samples; the results of the proposed methods were compared with experimental data. Results showed that maximum absolute deviation for viscosity calculated by proposed model was 11.19 % and maximum mean absolute deviation was 6.3%. Also, the predicted results using PC-SAFT in combination with friction theory were compared with the results of several previously proposed models. For instance, maximum absolute deviation for LBC method was 28.83 % which is much greater than those optimized using FT-PC-SAFT model, it was much greater. Results reflect the high accuracy of the proposed model in correlecting the viscosity of reservoir oil
