  7. Abstract:
  8. Today’s businesses strategies are changing from traditional point of view to globalization and distributed enterprise. Companies have to consider flexibility in term of quantity and variety. They have to manage and organize the product development chain where low cost resources are available. Therefore, enterprises and companies should facilitate the flow of information and increase the interoperability between distributed agents. The main information flow occurs in CAD/CAM/CNC chain. Information flow at the end of the chain has always been the main obstacle to enable interoperability. Old Standards for programming CNC machine tools are the main problem to exchange data and facilitate information flow. Newly developed standard, STEP-NC, also has its own problems where it requires high cost and time to implement. Also the compatibility of the new standards with machineries and resources used in today’s industrial environments is low. For solving these problems and enabling enterprises to facilitate information flow at the end of the chain, this work offers a novel system called SIDCAM. This system supports interoperability among distributed agents to exchange variety of data having different structures. The SIDCAM designed to cope with the present requirements of enterprises. It requires lower time and cost to implement. Finally, to support new ideas especially the growing trend in using STEP-NC, this work introduces an extended system called EX-SIDCAM
