- Abstract:
- In this research we study multi-commodity inventory-location problem under disruption risk that is formulated to a nonlinear integer-programming model. The objective function of this model is minimization of inventory and location costs simultaneously under disruption risk. These disruptions may be caused by natural events such as earthquake, flood, fire and man-made sources like labor strike or terrorist attack. The structural design of a supply chain greatly affects how these kinds of disruption risks influence the network. In this regard, this study proposes a strategy to reduce the impacts of disruption risk by considering substitute commodity in the multi-commodity inventory-location model. Since the model is NP-Hard we suggest a hybrid algorithm combining Tabu search (TS) with Variable neighborhood search (VNS) to solve the model. In a numerical study, we investigate the trade-off between Existence of substitute commodity and absence of it, as well as considering a sequence of R levels of facilities for each customer and regular assignment of customers. The results illustrate the benefit from multi-commodity with substitute commodity system and determining of R facilities for each customer compared to absence of these assumptions
