  7. Abstract:
  8. Importance role of railway in transporting freight attract researchers and operators of railroad to consider using the new technology and methods to making this mode of transportation more efficient. Most railways network use one prevalent method to move freight wagons from origin to destination. In this method, freight wagons on its route from their origin to their destination passing through different type of stations. Some of these stations are origin or destination. Some of station use to just refueling, passing or crossing freight trains. Third types of stations are classification stations. In these stations its passible freight wagons are reclassified. In other word freight wagons unfasten to arrival train be and fasten to departure trains. Therefor every train maybe contains the freight wagons that have different origin-destination every time. Thus it's passible moving several wagons that have different origin-destination in one train in one block. In railways there are common tactics to scheduling and grouping freight. this research provided a simulation model for grouping and moving freight wagons. A computer software was made for this purpose. In this presented model some constrain that was not consider in before problems of grouping and moving freight wagons are considered. Some of these constrain are: considering existence of passenger train in railroad and priority for passing and crossing of it vis a vis freight train. In this presented model in order to scheduling and grouping demand wagons its passible to considering different level of importance according to amount of demand. The main advantage of this model is considering several problems such as scheduling, grouping fright wagons and train making simultaneously because these problem had interaction on each other. For case study information of Iran's railway network was used. By application this model, different indicators of Iran's railway network were estimated in order to evaluating different policy of grouping and moving freight wagons
