- Abstract:
- Endurance Time Method (ET) is a dynamic analysis based on the Time History Analysis in which a predefined intensifying excitation would be applied to the structure and then the performance of the structure would be assessed based on the maximum time that the structure could fulfill the predefined criteria. This method has less complications than the other ordinary Time History methods and decreases the calculations. This method could be applied to Seismic Isolated Structures. Seismic Isolation is a method for decreasing seismic response of structures without increasing strength and ductility of the structure. In this Method all or parts of the structure would be separated from the ground below it in order to decrease the response of the structure.
In this project the application of Endurance Time Method in design of Seismic Isolated Structures in which Lead Rubeer Bearings (LRB) were used as isolation systems, was investigated. 3-, 7- and 12- story structures would be chosen for analysis and design. In the first step, these structures would be designed by static analysis, then by comparing the results of Time History analysis and ET analysis the accuracy of ET method would be assessed. The results showed the acceptable accuracy of ET analysis. In the next step the performance of the structure under ET records would be assessed and by comparing the performance curves of the structure with acceptable performance limits the height of the isolators would be changed to finalize designing the structure - Keywords:
