  7. Abstract:
  8. A large number of construction projects include repetitive projects. Many researchers have presented different methods (such as Non-Unit-Based method) for scheduling this class of projects in order to overcome the inabilities of network-based scheduling techniques. Despite the advantages of Non-Unit-Based method over others, it has failed to gain considerable attention. This paper aims to develop this method to enhance its efficiency in scheduling repetitive projects. The first objective of the paper is to develop Non-Unit-Based method in the following aspects :(1) scheduling the project based on the latest start time of crews in addition to the earliest start time of crews;(2) obtaining the total float and free float time of crews ; and (3) determining the critical crews. The second objective of this paper is to present a two-stage optimization model to minimize the project’s time and cost in the first stage and resource leveling in the second stage. Using Non-dominated Sorting Genetic Algorithm (NSGA-II) in time-cost optimization, the project managers are able to choose the most appropriate decision among the Pareto set. Crew’s float times is used in the resource leveling optimization and the optimization model is performed by Genetic Algorithm. To apply the developed Non-Unit-Based method and to validate the model, two case studies have been presented. In both case studies, the two-stage optimization model has been able to find all optimal solutions with searching a small portion of the overall search space. Based on the results obtained, the model presented optimal solutions within much less execution time as compared with the exhaustive enumeration time
