  7. Abstract:
  8. Although the issue of separation is studied frequently in the last few decades, in presence of numerous parameters and unknown effects of earthquakes and soil condition, scientists confront with remarkable difficulties. It was supposed that performance of structures which are secluded from soil remains in the elastic region and doesn’t bear nonlinearity. But according to recent studies, scientist assert that nonlinear performance might be possible as a result of various soil condition and ingredients of earthquake(magnitude and frequency). General procedure for seismic improvements of structures includes increasing the strength and resistance, capability of structure to absorb energy and reducing the seismic demands by means of method such as separation of structure from foundation, mass reduction and the energy damping. Methods of separation used in this study is a new procedure that has been focused on in the last decades. The performance of this system is in the way that by concentrating the resulting displacement in the level of separation, provide the desired flexibility and seclude the structure from horizontal components of the ground motion and produce the system that the period of this system is more than the predominant period of earthquake and also more than the period of the same structure that is fixed in its base. Because in the last years a lot of attention gives to the base isolation and this system become more popular among the engineers, codes like ASCE7 has focused on its designing criteria. In this study, performance of concrete structures with seismic isolator is examined. It should be noted that the isolator used in this study, is lead rubber bearing. There are different methods for analyzing this kind of structure and in this study study incremental dynamic analysis is used. This method is fast and precise enough to demonstrate the reduction in the response of such structures like this. Modeling and nonlinear analysis of such structure like this, is manipulated by a powerful softwares, namely RUAUMOKO
