- Abstract:
- Nowadays, using smart buildings to improve performance and welfare of residents is of interest. Usually, these systems consist of safety systems that provide safety and security for residents. For example, fire detection system, sound the alarm and activating sprinkler in the building. For different types of critical events that can occur, variety of safety systems has been designed. Response time of these systems should be less than the deadline and the correct operation must be compeleted. As a result, analyzing and checking out the real-time and logical features of safety systems are the issues that we treat and investigate in this thesis.
In general, these systems are either centralized or distributed. Due to the increasing use of distributed systems and the need for a timely response, real-time analysis and the impact of communication protocols on the response time are work of interests. Indeed, in this project distributed safety system based on a common protocol is analyzed. In this thesis, after specifying and classifying the timing constraints of critical tasks, at first a generic and reference distributed system is presented. This system can be used as a fire detection, anti-theft, water leak detection and earthquake early warning systems. Then, with emphasis of the impact of communication protocols on response time and regardless of other delays, the worst case delay access of the transmission medium of the protocol, is obtained through a mathematical formulation. We also implement a part of MAC algorithm that is used in the safety system. Also the mean and worst case response time of systems with Poisson distribution of critical events are obtained through simulation. Finally, by using a timed automata model, the worst response time is also obtained and timing and the correctness and time properties of the model are evaluated with UPPAAL - Keywords:
