  4. In this paper, a simple approach is presented to determine the Muskhelishvili potential function in a generic quasi-static contact problem between two elastically similar half planes. As an example, this approach is applied to the symmetric indentation of a flat surface by a bi-quadratic punch to obtain the interior elastic stress field of the indented lower half plane
