  7. Abstract:
  8. In recent years, due to various reasons, such as outsourcing, hardware security and trust have become a crucial issue and confrontation with hardware Trojan has become one of the important part of it. Widespread usage of reconfiguration devices in industry, due to various reasons like low cost design and short time to market, makes these devices appealing for inserting hardware Trojan. Additionally, reconfigurable devices are susceptible to soft errors. Inserting a hardware Trojan in a system by an attacker can leak some information or even cause the system to break down. In previous works, in order to detect hardware Trojan, some methods have been proposed which impose high area and performance overhead to the main system. Furthermore, to the best of our knowledge, no method for simultaneous detection of hardware Trojans and soft errors has been proposed and evaluated so far. In this work, the proposed method not only can prevent and detect hardware Trojan, but also can detect and even correct soft errors imposing acceptable overhead. In the proposed method by repeating the main design and adding history Flip-flops and a controller, hardware Trojans have been detected and the reconfigurable device becomes protected. Moreover, the method leads to detecting soft errors. The proposed method has been implemented using XDL. Evaluations account for higher availability and reliability for this method than the well-known TMR. Its area overhead and latency are 165% and 39%, respectively, which turns out to be less than the TMR
