  8. During production process in Uranium Conversion Facility (UCF) plant at Isfahan, the liquid waste containing uranium compounds, is directed to evaporation lagoons. Gradually, a considerable amount of precipitation will form at the bottom of these lagoons. Uranium concentration in this precipitation is very high and can range from tens of ppm to the order of a few weight percent. As such, it seems that uranium recovery from the UCF waste liquid is not only economically advantageous, but also effective for protecting the environment.The liquid waste resulting from the uranium extraction process contains a great amount of Fluoride ( ppm or higher) which cannot possibly be thrown away into the environment. For this to be possible, the Fluoride concentration must be reduced down to ppm. There are several techniques for Fluoride removal and reduction of its concentration to safe levels among which, the combined technique of chemical precipitation (suitable for reducing high concentrations down to ppm) and absorption via industrial resins (for secondary reduction down to ppm or lower) seems to be a convenient process for this operation. The aim of this work is to propose an applicable method for Fluoride reduction from radioactive waste through a pulsed column (continuous) such a way that the resulting waste is possible to be thrown away. In this work, the possibility of Fluoride reduction down to ppm is investigated by using industrial absorbers after chemical precipitation.Several projects for Fluoride reduction from Isfahan UCF waste liquid through absorption has been done so far and are currently being done. In all of these works the non-continuous method (Batch experiment) is used for characterization and optimization of absorption process. However, the final decision on the appropriate absorber and optimization of absorption parameters should be carried out considering the absorber behavior in the absorption column. As such, in this project by conducting column experiments on different absorbers, the optimum absorber for Fluoride reduction is chosen and the critical parameters are optimized for the absorption process in the column
