  7. Abstract:
  8. Propylene is one of the key material in petrochemical industries. In recent years, as propylene demand increases, development of new methods alongside traditional ways in production of propylene seems essential. The production of propylene from methanol using zeolitic catalysts is as one of this new methods. This method in recent years has got attention. H-ZSM-5 zeolite is one of the best catalysts appropriate for this process. However, rapid deactivation is the main problem this catalyst at the present time. Therefore, more research in order to increase stability and lifetime has been performed. The uses of promoters are as one of the simplest improvement methods of H-ZSM-5 zeolite. Boron is one of promoters used in the references. In order to investigate effect of boron addition, six H-ZSM-5 zeolites with specified combination and different ratios of boron/aluminium were synthesised. All samples were synthesised with hydrothermal method and in stirred reactor with volume of 5 liters. The samples¬ (in three state: fresh, used and reduced) were characterized by TGA/DTA, XRD, FE-SEM, N2 adsorption/desorption, FT-IR and NH3-TPD techniques. Also the catalytic performance of samples in the MTP reaction and the same condition operation (fixed bed reaction set-up, T=480°C, WHSV =1.44 ml/h.gcat, P=1barg, feed= methanol to water with weight ratio 80 to 20) was studied and the conversion of methanol and product distribution on the catalysts was compared. Investigation results has shown that the H-ZSM-5 catalyst containing mole ratio boron oxide equal to 0.025 (with 42-day activity) is the best catalyst compared to other samples. N2 adsorbtion/disorbtion results of catalysts in two states of used and reduced also has confirmed this catalyst (S-3TPA-0.025B) excellence compared to other samples
