- In this project, process of conceptual design and design optimization is presented for a cloud seeding UAV. Inefficiency of classical and statical design approaches is more obvious in new designed missions restricted to different and numerous Dynamic and performance constraints with no similar design target aircraft. So in this project we used conceptual design optimization approach with respect to aerodynamic, weight and balance, performance and stability discipline to overcome those restrictions and to design a cloud seeding UAV. In order to reduce the computational time, we used low fidelity method (analectic equation) in performance and stability, medium fidelity method (empherical equation) in weight and balance and high fidelity method (vortex lattice method) in aerodynamic. The final optimization process is done with respect to takeoff weight and level of flight handling quality, by using two multi objective optimization algorithm, one a multi objective version of Genetic algorithms and the other a novel multi objective version of bacterial foraging optimization algoritm. The results showed that the developed software framework is able to find the optimized design in less time than the classical approach and eliminate the limitations of traditional design process
