- The current study aimed at both analyzing and evaluating Prospect course books(2012) with reference to a list of criteria which mainly consisted of: layout and physical appearance, different language skills, vocabulary, grammar, content and supplementary materials. Also a comparison was carried out between Prospect textbooks and Hip Hip hooray 2nd edition (2004) – a globally published ELT textbook taught at many Iranian private language institutes, in the related parts. The study is a qualitative one and makes use of descriptions and comparisons for providing data then content analysis has been used. The results showed that there are some positive points regarding Prospect, including inclusion of a photo dictionary, paying attention to all different language skills, using familiar content and cultural opinions, having teacher guide, audio files and finally paying attention to communication. In case of Hip Hip textbooks, the inclusion of numerous high quality audio files, interesting and fun exercises and activities, educational oriented use of illustrations and finally several reoccurrence of new vocabulary items are positive points. On the other hand, there were some negative points regarding Prospect series such as, the use of illustrations mostly for the purpose of decoration and not for instructional purposes, low quality listening files, little use of communication games, paying little attention to intercultural awareness and finally no integration of language skills in many activities and exercises. At the end, some suggestions were offered to be taken into account for future possible revisions
