- Abstract:
- In this project, silica and polystyrene based interpenetrating polymer networks (IPNs) were used as a sorbent for microextraction in packed sorbent for having both of the polymer’s properties at the same time. Interpenetrating polymer networks were synthesized with the simultaneous method and three different kind of interpenetrating polymer networks were prepared including full-interpenetrating polymer networks, covalent semi-interpenetrating polymer networks and non-covalent semi-interpenetrating polymer networks. To investigate extraction efficiency of prepared sorbents, 41 compounds including environmental pollutants and biomolecules were chosen. Studies showed that interpenetrating polymer networks in which both polymers are networks or one of them have a network and other is crosslinked to the network, have better extraction efficiencies than others. Covalent semi-interpenetrating polymer networks sorbent which was prepared based on C-S cross-links, was chosen for quantification of steroids with online-microextraction by packed sorbent combined with high-performance liquid chromatography. Desorption time, sample flow rate, sample volume and pH were optimized as effective parameters. Linear dynamic range was calculated between 10-160 μg L-1 with R2>0.99. Relative recoveries for real sample were between 102-107 %. Relative standard deviations for three replicates in the linear dynamic range were below 10%. Limit of detection was found 2 μg L-1 for three steroids. Analytes’ adsorption behavior on sorbent substrate was studied with adsorption theories and full match was found with Freundlich model
