  7. Abstract:
  8. Tunnels are considered as one of the vital arteries of each country. In this concept, one of the most notable issues is designing of tunnel lining systems. Due to the increase of investments in tunnels and the progress of machinery and tunnel technology is needed for an optimal tunnel lining systems more than the past. The effect of initial lining system is not considered in designing of final lining systems, and this section is assumed to be omitted. In general, in this project, the final lining system of urban tunnels will be optimized by finite element method. This method is used by Abaqus software for analysis and the modeling. The purpose of this work is optimization of design lining systems on underground spaces by evaluating the effect and loading of primary lining systems in long-time. Therefore, the effect of shotcrete is investigated, as an initial lining system, on reducing unreinforced concrete lining internal forces, as a final lining system. The shotcrete is tied with the soil and the lining is located inside it. The investigations are carried out a tunnel with a horseshoe cross-section. After the excavation steps, the specific mass and the elastic modulus of shotcrete are reduced in several steps and its effect is examined on increasing the internal forces of the lining. Then, the parameters of model geometry, soil and lining are changed and its impact on the internal forces of lining and the effect of the shotcrete are studied in order to the reduction these internal forces and result analyzed
