- Abstract:
- Drivers' behavior is an influential factor in more than 90% of driving accidents. Due to the increased traffic load due to the use of private cars, as well as traffic congestion restrictions for the use of private cars at large city centers, the use of public transportation means for transportation of goods and passengers in order to reduce traffic load is a very convenient option and it is sometimes necessary. Therefore, it is very important to examine the behavior and character of drivers of public urban vehicles in order to increase traffic safety. The purpose of this research is to present and develop a descriptive model that describes the behaviors leading to at-fault accidents for public transport drivers in urban environments using structural equation modeling method. In this study, a number of drivers of urban transport, including drivers of urban transport vehicles and freight vehicles in the city, were interviewed. For this purpose, the required data were collected by interview using questionnaires on driving violations, driving behavior, attitude, stress, sleep wellness and traffic accident information of drivers of public transport vehicles. At the end of this research, a comprehensive descriptive model has been presented to identify the relationship between the variables affecting the safe driving of urban public transport in Iran. The results of the descriptive model showed that the number of public transport vehicle accidents was directly related to "the driver's attitude toward the impending events and the number and severity of their possible crashes", "mobile phone usage during driving" and "hostile offenses", and with "number of years Discounts on insurance "has a significant negative relationship. Also, the probability of an accident is higher for passenger drivers who have more " errors" behavior. The results show that the rate of sleep dissatisfaction among the passenger carriers is higher than other drivers. Drivers are more likely to talk to their mobile phone and send text messages than read text messages while they are driving. "Attitude towards speeding", "Using a mobile phone while driving" and "Exposure (daily working hours and driver weekly scrolling)" are factors that influence the incidence of driver stress behaviors. The results indicate the direct effect of two hidden variables, "the amount of mobile phone use during driving" and "aggressive driving behavior" on the penalties imposed on all drivers surveyed in this study. The perceived risk of all drivers surveyed in this study is influenced by the driver's exposure variable
