- Abstract:
- Amongst different methods for synthesis one-dimensional TiO2 nanostructures, hydrothermal process has various advantages such as use of water as growth media and can be defined as an environmentally friendly processing. Hydrothermal processing parameters including processing temperature and time, nature of titanium source and its primary particle size, concentration of titanium source, drying temperature, annealing temperature and re-hydrothermal process have significant influence on crystal structure and morphology of the final product. These parameters were investigated in the present study. Therefore, five different titanium sources including three TiO2 powders and two TiO2 sols as well as other processing parameters were studied by XRD, FE-SEM and UV-vis analyses. The results showed that the aspect ratio of TiO2 nanowires increased with increasing processing temperature up to 180ºC and processing time up to 72 h. Moreover, the aspect ratio of TiO2 nanowires increased with an increase of TiO2 concentration in NaOH solution. Therefore, the maximum aspect ratio of 145 was obtained under the condition of 0.5 g commercial TiO2 nanopowder at 180ºC for 72 h. It was observed that pure anatase-TiO2 nanorods and nanoparticles were obtained after subsequent heat treatments such as drying, annealing at 900ºC and re-hydrothermal treatments
