- Abstract:
- In this project, The cadmium sulfide nanoparticles were formed on a nanostructured and meso-porous titanium dioxide layer and its properties were characterized. Deposition process of titanium dioxide and cadmium sulfide has been performed respectively in one stage and two stages of dipcoating. In order to probing effects of temperature and dipcoating time, samples have been prepared in various times and temperatures. Also, some of the samples have been annealed. Thickness of titanium dioxide and cadmium sulfide coatings were approximately measured 1 μm and between 3-5 μm, respectively. As expected, XRD results disclosed that cadmium sulfide and titanium dioxide were formed in the form of greenockite and anatase, respectively. SEM images showed titanium dioxide particles had spherical shape and 150-300 nm diameter length. Some particles which had dimension of under 30 nm nucleated on the primary spheres after heat-treatment. Moreover, these images revealed that it is possible for cadmium sulfide particles to convert into a film by increasing in dipcoating time from 4 to 14 minutes. In addition, cadmium sulfide particles formation in 75 ºC was better than its formation in room temperature, but in this temprature increasing in dipcoating time from 4 to 14 minutes had a little effect. Consequently, the temperature of 75 ºC and dipcoating time of 4 minutes were selected as the optimum temperature and time. Under these conditions, in this condition cadmium sulfide particle size was measured between 20 and 35 nm. Composition of observed nanoparticles in SEM images was verified by EDS analysis. Furthermore, nanoparticles distribution was characterized by MAP images, They were dispersed homogenously on the whole of surface. Ultimately, the solar cell efficiency of prepared specimens under the optimum circumstances was tested, Accordingly, VOC, JSC, Fill Factor(FF) and cell efficiency (E) were measured 0.82 v, 1.44 A/cm2, 46% and 0/544%, respectively
