  7. Abstract:
  8. Due to the growing need of users to establish voice over IP (VoIP) communications, the low quality of voice transmission that do not meet their needs leads to their dissatisfaction. For this reason, the VoIP quality improvement has become one of the most important challenges facing the current domain of network communications. The analysis of the quality of network services in the VoIP traffics is an integral part of the quality assurance and improvement process of the multimedia networks. Hence, "user satisfaction" monitoring and evaluation of voice communications (also known as "Quality of Experience"), in addition to adaptive improvement of the speech quality in such communications, are important and essential issues for content providers and consumers of multimedia services on the network so that the user expectations be met and network resource consumption be reduced. This research aims at designing an online quality monitoring system for VoIP communications and its adaptive control, with the help of an architecture or a software/hardware system. In fact, by objectively measuring the effective parameters of the VoIP quality, the QoE value is estimated based on the reference (e.g, E-model) or selected models and, if the voice quality is less than expected, then some feedbacks are fed to the transmitter or the network equipment. In this way, we can effectively and adaptively improve the voice quality. The evaluation of this system has been done on the basis of a reconfigurable network using the reference audio. Our platform has permitted to enhance the quality of the transmitted voice by using feedback information based on measured packet loss, delay, jitter and bandwidth
