- Abstract:
- Ethanol is a promising alternative fuel in terms of addressing future energy and environmental problems, so we can use ethanol as a fuel in passenger cars to eliminate enviremental problems. in this study, the CEV13-038 injector from ACRUS company is modeled. the research purpose is focused on the effect of ethanol , geometrical parameters, and the fuel type on the injected mass quantity and on turning the fuel supply system from a gasoline based system to ethanol based one.
In the first step of this study, The effect of ethanol, fuel temperature, needle lift, nozzle diameter and number of nozzles on the injected mass is investigated on the Tiba 2 fuel supply system. The result in the first step proved that the guantity of injected mass is not affect noticeably by changing fuel from gasoline to ethanol. However, for running the engine in lambda 1, the ratio of ethanol to gasoline should increase to approximately 14/9. the geometrical investigations demonstrated that the increase of fuel temperature reduce the injected quantity. However, increasing in needle lift, nozzle number and nozzle diameter results in the increase in this parameter. Also, it should be noted that an increase in the nozzle diameter, nozzle number and needle lift do not necessarily result in the increase in the injected mass quantity. In the second step, the fuel supply system from tank to injector, and the tiba engine has been modeled. the engine is modeled to calculate the quantity of burned fuel in all working situations of the engine and the fuel supply system is modeled to investigate the ways of switching from the gasoline based system to ethanol based one. increasing the pressure of the fuel supply system and working time of injector is the best method for converting the fuel supply system. in results section, the needed pressure and the injection time are calculated in all working situations of the engine. results in that section showed that in order for the engine to work at high performance, the pressure of the fuel supply system must increase to 8 bar or the injection time must increase up to approximately 1.6 times than that of the gasoline injection time . The next conversion method in this study is increasing the number of nozzles. Results provided that the Increase in the number of nozzles to 8 cannot satisfy the exact needed quantity of the fuel but it can provide the engine with its required fuel with an acceptable error - Keywords:
