- Abstract:
- This project aims at the calculation of response distribution of a structure using Endurance Time Analysis (ETA). The traditional approach for this calculation is Incremental Dynamic Analysis (IDA). One of the drawbacks of the IDA is its excessive computational complexity. In the ETA, the structure is analyzed using a set of artificial ground motions with increasing intensities as time passes. As a result, the ETA can be used to calculate the response distribution of the structure in a range of intensities. In the traditional ETA, only the median of the response is calculated. In this study, the response distribution is calculated as well as the median. To achieve this, the proposed approach leverages the Single Degree of Freedom systems. Applying the IDA on the SDOF systems and the ETA on the nonlinear model of the structure leads to response distributions. The usage of SDOF models in this approach results in noticeably less computational cost in comparison with the IDA. We evaluated this approach by applying it on nine special concrete moment frames. Some of these frames are selected from the Haselton’s models while the others are designed through this study. The proposed approach calculates the distribution of response by considering not only the record-to-record variability but also the modeling uncertainties. The results of this research can be utilized to calculate the collapse fragility curve and the drift exceedance fragility curves
