- In this project, first of all the Axiomatic Design approach, then the Scarf Repair and papers about it so far have been explained. Then Scarf Repair design with Axiomatic Design approach has been done and at the end a damaged plate sample has been repaired with developed way. Axiomatic Design is a systematic approach to design or judge existing designs for choosing the best design. This approach, says that a good design is the one that satisfys Independence and Information axioms. Independence axiom says that the better design is the one that its functional requierments are independent from each other and Information axiom says that from designs that satisfy the Independence axiom, the better one is the one that its design parameters satisfy the functional requirements with more probability. Scarf Repair is a repair approach for relatively thick damaged plates. Unlike the doubler repair that its patch is on the surface of the structure, in scarf repair the patch is inside the structure. And for increasing the shear component of adhesive force to be more than its normal component, the patch and cut out of structure are made with a very small angle. For scarf repair design with axiomatic design approach, at first the needs of the stakeholders of this type of repair were extracted. And then we arrived to the functional requirements and their corresponding design parameters with zigzaging between functional and physical architecture domains. Then the couplings were detected by inspecting the design matrix. And then the couplings were resolved by redesign. And a linear algorithm without trial and error loops was introduced
