  8. The purpose of this study was to identify the dimensions of readiness for change in senior managers in the academic environment. In the literature, the emotional component of readiness for change requires more empirical research. The main question of this research is to identify cognitive and affective dimensions of readiness for change. This research has an exploratory approach, and a qualitative research method has been used to reach the research goals. In order to answer the questions of this research, a case study of Strategic Budgeting Implementation Plan at Sharif University of Technology has been studied. Interviews were conducted with the heads of the depatments of Sharif University of Technology as senior managers responsible for implementing the change. These interviews have been analyzed using the thematic analysis method and finally ten main categories are identified that represent the dimensions of readiness for change. Also, three categories are recognized as underlying contexual factors that influence the readiness for change in public universities. The identified dimensions cover exisiting aspects of change readiness literature including the discrepensy, self-efficacy, personal valence, observance of change fairness, and informational and executive support, as well as novel dimensions such as emotions and general feelings about change, attitude toward change agents and the motivation for change. Discovered contextual factors that infulece readiness for change in public universities includes economic conditions, the type of people's attitudes toward the academic environment, the rules and administrative procedures
