- Abstract:
- Voting has been considered as one of the principal of democracy which by this, people can announce their convictions and ideas officially. E-voting is a method of online voting based on cryptographic mechanisms. E-voting schemes by keeping voters' privacy safe and providing security requirement same as verifiability, fairness, coercion resistance, receipt freeness, undeniability, and eligibility has been noticed in recent years. Security of many presenting schemes is based on existence of trusted third party that plays an important role in process of getting and counting votes. Also, some of security problems which are in this scheme, originated from centralization and generic trust of third party. By invention and development of blockchains, elimination of centralized management and creation of trust on the distributing platform in distinct application including e-voting schemes has been noticed. In this thesis, in addition to review e-voting schemes based on blockchains, two well-known e-voting schemes based on blockchains are analyzed and improved. First scheme is an e-voting schemes based on bitcoin blockchains which has been presented in 2017. We will be indicating that this scheme contrary to not utilize cryptographic tool with high operational complicity such as mix-net and having some features same as eligibility and verifiability, suffers from some weakness security same as violating the privacy by certificate authority and receipt. Then, by applying changes in structure of scheme and exploiting a bit commitment will indicate that improved scheme despite of keeping favorable featured of first scheme, is capable of providing privacy and receipt freeness. In addition, second scheme is a scheme based on private blockchains in decentralized IOT network which has been presented in 2019. This scheme in spite of presenting a solution to solve self-tallying e-voting systems and presenting security proof to provide security requirement " maximal ballet secrecy " suffer from a few weakness securities same as violating privacy, receipt freeness and eligibility. The improved scheme by using blind signature and ring signature, enables privacy, receipt freeness and eligibility and provides feasibility of using this scheme in other applications
