- Abstract:
- Increased globalization and level of complexity of supply chains have made them more vulnerable to environmental disruptions than ever before. However, conventional methods of risk management can not help supply chains in the face of turmoil and disruption, because of unexpected and unfortunate events due to the unpredictability and uncertainty in which they are. They can have irreversible effects on supply chains and even threaten the very existence of members of these chains. In such a situation, the key to the success and survival of supply chain operations is to achieve supply chain resilience. On the other hand, health care supply chains are one of the most important and vital parts of any society and therefore the issue of resilience is doubly important for such chains. But organizations, especially health care providers, can not and should not act as isolated and remote islands independent of other members of the supply chain, because cooperation and the use of external resources to achieve supply chain resilience are very important. In this regard, this study was conducted with the aim of examining the role of supply chain social capital and its three dimensions namely relational capital, structural capital and cognitive capital on supply chain resilience. The research model and its hypotheses were analyzed by least partial squares of structural equation modeling and the use of SmartPLS 3.0. The findings of this study showed that structural capital has a direct and positive effect on cognitive capital. It was also confirmed that both structural and cognitive capital have a direct and positive effect on supply chain relational capital. In addition, a direct and positive relationship was found between relational capital and supply chain resilience, but no direct relationship was found between the other two dimensions, namely cognitive and structural capital, with supply chain resilience. Finally, it was found that structural and cognitive capital have indirect and positive effects on supply chain resilience by affecting relational capital
