- Abstract:
- In many industrial devices and machines, variable loading is applied to the parts, which will lead to fatigue in these parts. Most of these components are in contact with other components, and when the device is operating, low-amplitude movements occur at the contact point. Variable loading conditions and low-amplitude movements at the point of contact can cause failure on parts called FRETTING FATIGUE. This type of failure occurs in many aerospace components, such as where the compressor blade roots connect to the disc. In recent years, many failures due to fretting fatigue has been reported, which has made the need to take solution to prevent this type of failure more and more obvious. One of the solutions used is the use of different coatings in the contact area. In this study, the phenomenon of fretting fatigue, using a three-dimensional finite element model, in an industrial blade has been investigated and the effect of aerodynamic and compressive loads on slip amplitude and contact pressure in the contact area has been investigated. Then, positive effect of the presence of shroud in the blade is investigated and finally, in order to investigate the effect of coating in the contact area, the blade is analyzed in different friction coefficients. In this analysis, slip amplitude and contact pressure data extracted at different friction coefficients can be considered as a valuable source in investigating the effect of coating on fretting fatigue life
