- Today, by emerging wearable technologies and digital health, it is possible to constantly monitor vital signals of people without time-consuming and costly referrals to medical centers. Applications of wearable sensors for health monitoring include electrocardiograms (ECG), blood pressure measurement, and blood sugar measurement, etc. One of the important fields of health monitoring is cardiac arrhythmia detection. Cardiac arrhythmia is any kind of anomalies in heart beat rhythm that can lead to serious damage to vital organs of the body. It is estimated that between 750 thousand to 1.5 million people are facing cardiac arrhythmia in Iran. Therefore, early detection of cardiac arrhythmia is of great importance in health.In this thesis, algorithms are developed to recognize arrhythmia from ECG signal. First, these algorithms filter the noisy signal of ECG and make a clean signal for further analysis. Afterwards, with the aid of machine learning, arrhythmia sections are marked on the ECG signal to help cardiologist in analyzing the signal. Diagnostic algorithms are verified by valid databases to yield optimum results.In addition to the algorithms, a device is developed to replace the common Holter monitors in the market. Holter monitor is a device that can store electrocardiogram from few hours up to days in order to recognize cardiac arrhythmia. However, these devices may cause discomfort due to their heavy weight, large volume, and high price. Considering these disadvantages, a comfortable, high quality, and cost-effective Holter monitor is designed in this thesis
