  8. Every year, a high percentage of university graduates go abroad to continue their studies. Large amount of them, especially those who graduated from better universities, do not return to Iran. the emigration of these people, who are considered to be of the best graduates in the country, and their non-return to the country leads to Decrease in the average capability of the country's human resources, waste of resources spent on them from a national perspective, Decrease in the productivity at the internal universities, industries and services and increase in the country's scientific distance from the other countries. the 1370s are an important section in the country's history due to post-war problems. Uncertainty in improving conditions, Lack of facilities and the desire to live without worries on the one hand and Hope for the future and a sense of patriotism and a sense of duty to build the country on the other hand had caused various incentives for student migration. so, this period is an important period from view point of academic migration in recent decades. the purpose of this research is to study and identify the characteristics of educational immigrants during the 70s. Clustering method was used to study the motives and reasons for migration in this decade. Clustering was performed based on important factors in shaping the reasons for migration, which have been explained in detail in the literature of education and migration. Thirteen important factors consisting of Socio-political conditions, Prestige, job and occupation, life style, structural problems, Self-actualization and scientific progress, respect and being valued and meaningfulness, Economic problems, Ease of acceptance, family, network, Patriotism and personal reasons were extracted from literature review. After designing the questions, the questionnaire was sent online and from 558 questionnaires answered, 383 data remained for analysis after data clearing. after clustering this data according to the mentioned criteria, five distinct clusters were obtained. These clusters in terms of size were named homeland escape, perfectionist, satisfied patriot, dissatisfied patriot, and prestige seeking, respectively. the characteristics of each cluster were described and analyzed, and in the conclusion section, possible solutions to reduce the process of "non-return educational migration" were explained
