  7. Abstract:
  8. The frequency divider is one of the components of a frequency synthesizer. Regenerative frequency divider is one of the frequency division methods and is used in narrow band applications. In this thesis, the process of designing & fabricating Ka band and Ku band regenerative frequency dividers is reported. A bandwidth of 550MHz for the Ka band divider and 400MHz for the Ku band divider have been achieved. Multiple passive structures such as microstrip filters, Wilkinson power dividers and a waveguide-to-microstrip transition have been designed during the fabrication of the mentioned frequency dividers. According to the results of the simulations, the bandwidth of the waveguide-to-microstrip transition is 3.6GHz for return losses greater than +15dB. The sensitivity of the response has beed reduced by using substrate integrated waveguide. According to the results of the simulations, the insertion losses of the loop filters are less than +1.4dB and +0.5dB at the loop frequency, in the Ka-band and Ku-band dividers, respectively. The Wilkinson power divider which is designed for the Ka-band divider, has a return loss greater than +20dB in the frequency range 14.8~ 17.2GHz, according to the results of simulations. The Wilinson power divider which is designed for the Ku-band divider, has a return loss greater than +15dB in the frequency range 5.1~ 12GHz, according to the results of the simulations
