- Abstract:
- Today, tens of millions of people on the planet suffer from heart disease. For the correct diagnosis and treatment of these diseases, there is a vital need for accurate scientific evidence such as various types of vascular and cardiac imaging. One of the applications of guidewires is in cardiovascular imaging. Of course, in addition to diagnosis, this device is also used in the treatment of disease. It should be noted that about 21 million central vessel catheters are performed annually on heart patients, of which about 16 million are performed using the seldinger method. Reportedly, unfortunately, 5% to 19% of these operations have had side effects and harm to the patient or failure. Therefore, success in using this basic and useful tool depends on the ability of a skilled physician and the appropriate physical and mechanical properties in the wire. Otherwise, the presence of guidewires in the patient's tortuous and narrow arteries and ducts can be very dangerous. The aim of this project is to investigate the effect of different parameters on the mechanical properties of the guidewire. The most important effective parameters are the diameter of the core, the diameter of the spring wire, the outer diameter of the spring, the geometric shape of the head, etc. The guidewire. The most important mechanical properties of the guidewire include stiffness of the shaft, torsional rigidity of the shaft, kinking resistance , stiffness of tip, etc. The guidewire. Therefore, in this study, after providing a definition of the above, a test to measure each is determined and the effect of different parameters on the mechanical properties of the wire is investigated using the finite element method
